In order to fulfill our mission of an open financial system, we need to understand how to bring cryptocurrency to the mainstream. User research is critical to understanding both our current and potential users and knowing how to design for them. We are looking for a seasoned researcher to partner to the Coinbase Consumer product team and guide us to mass adoption of crypto.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Serve as a strategic research partner for the Consumer core product team
  • Act as primary point of contact for all team research needs—from large foundational and generative projects to evaluative, tactical, and investigative quick wins
  • Coordinate and conduct mixed-methods research, including interviews, usability testing, concept testing, surveys, fieldwork, and other methods as needed
  • Provide thoughtful guidance and education to stakeholders to turn vague business needs into actionable research questions
  • Contribute to internal research processes such as archiving and communicating findings internally
  • Partner with other researchers on larger strategic research initiatives and internal team process

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 5+ years of user research experience, preferably on consumer-facing mobile and desktop products
  • Experience with all common user research methods, skilled at selecting the right tool for the job
  • Can successfully manage project prioritization and stakeholder relationships independently
  • Comfortable owning coordination, recruitment, and scheduling—we wear many hats, divas need not apply
  • Provides both confident team leadership and patient guidance to a range of stakeholder levels
  • Strong business mindset, with an eye on KPIs and company strategy
  • Adaptability, with a willingness to abandon methodological perfectionism
  • Excellent hustle—our industry moves at lightning speed—supporting several projects at a time
  • Easily communicates complex concepts, with ability to influence others
  • Collaborative attitude, team mentality, and humility without territorialism
  • A learner’s mindset, seeing feedback as a chance to grow
  • Interest in learning more about cryptocurrency and finance (no knowledge required!)
