We’re looking for a strategic, connected, and ambitious communications manager to work closely with our institutional and B2B teams to tell the story of the maturing institutional cryptoeconomy. Coinbase’s institutional platform offers a full-stack solution for professional traders. The suite combines access to the world’s largest pool of regulated, KYC-verified cryptocurrency liquidity augmented by high performance APIs and a high-touch coverage team. Paired with access to our global OTC trading desk and Coinbase Custody’s highly secure offline storage platform, Coinbase’s institutional suite provides the trust, security, and performance necessary for investors to trade with confidence.

As a communications lead, you will have the opportunity to join the ground floor of a company that is revolutionizing finance and technology. You will set and execute media strategy, lead message development, support executive communications and work with a range of partners, clients and internal stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and execute a world-class media strategy that drives the Coinbase institutional story across domestic and international business, trade and mainstream press.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to build out company and product messaging
  • Work with key internal stakeholders (executive management, marketing, engineering and HR) to execute media campaigns that support business objectives
  • Produce compelling content for a range of mediums including earned, owned, paid and shared media
  • Work with customers to produce content and secure media opportunities
  • Provide on-the-ground support for executive speaking engagement
  • Report qualitatively on coverage and analyze our positioning in the media to demonstrate the impact on marketing and business goals

What we look for in you:

  • A proven track record of building long-term, beneficial media relationships.
  • A demonstrated ability to understand complex subject matter such as financial instruments and market dynamics, along with the skills needed to simplify and explain these topics for a broad audience of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across the organization.
  • Stellar writing and storytelling skills - prose that’s clear and concise, yet compelling and approachable.
  • A strategic mindset. You should bring creative solutions to every problem and never see a challenge as insurmountable.
  • Grace under fire: PR + crypto equals a fast-paced working environment. You should be unflappable at crunch time, and be able to deliver a quality product under the most stressful of circumstances.
  • Executive presence. As a communications lead, you will often be the face of the company, both figuratively and literally. You will travel with Coinbase leadership team members and be on the ground at important industry events. You will also often be a spokesperson for the company. It’s critical for this role that the successful applicant is able to represent the company in a way that is consistent with our values.
