The Department: Security

In the emerging industry of digital assets, there is nothing more important than trust (which is why Gemini’s very first hires were Security experts). The Gemini Security team forms the backbone of all that we do and is as diverse as the number of challenges we tackle in the crypto space. From security architecture and engineering to maintenance of cold storage systems and data centers to cybersecurity and litigation support, our team ensures that our customers, clients, and employees are safe, secure, and supported.

The Role: Physical Security Manager

Gemini is seeking a passionate and accomplished Physical Security Manager to manage implementing applicable physical security requirements in accordance with government, industry standards and best practices. This position will lead the Gemini physical security program for multiple geographically separated operations and administrative facilities.

This position is full-time at Gemini’s office in New York City and will report to the Associate Director, Cybersecurity Governance, Risk & Compliance.


  • Manage and operate electronic systems including: S2 access control; camera system surveillance/monitoring/footage storage; alarm equipment; and other security devices.
  • Manage and operate day-to-day building security in all of Gemini facilities globally, including:
  • the guard force
  • management of ingress and egress points
  • CCTV camera coverage
  • soundproofing
  • building walkthroughs
  • guest management
  • Own governance of physical security, including
  • completing risk assessments to identify security gaps
  • codifying related policies, standards, and procedures
  • Manage physical security for all company sponsored events and implement the appropriate proactive plans to assure attendee safety and security
  • Investigate thefts, disturbances, violations, intrusions, and incidents and coordinate with HR, onsite guard responses, and/or law enforcement to resolve
  • Manage and train physical security contractors, consultants, guards, and staff including personnel responsible for monitoring access to Gemini Facilities
  • Manage access to physical safes and lockers in all Gemini Facilities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in the security and cybersecurity field
  • Proficiency with S2 Access Control System
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient technical electronic equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with APIs and data feeds produced by security devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification
  • Experience with Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense (DoD) facility security standards and requirements
  • Knowledge of physical security risk assessment/management/mitigation methodologies, crime prevention, site hardening, perimeter delineation, security lighting, and physical barrier systems
  • Technical experience with extracting meaningful data and alerting from device logs to enrich broader security focused threat models
