Country Manager - Philippines

The Celo mission is to build a monetary system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all.

Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment. Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, the Celo protocol makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility. Celo is an open protocol enabling many to participate in the system, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launching on the Celo platform is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets.

As Country Manager, you will oversee all projects and programs around the launch of Celo in market. You will be responsible for the implementation of Celo’s rollout in-country, including on-the-ground project management and engagement with key local partners and regulators.

You will: Establish Celo’s presence in the Philippines and set up the program for continued success

  • Hire, train, and supervise a talented team to support Celo adoption and usage
  • Set up the legal, HR, regulatory, and financial and customer success infrastructure to support Celo users
  • Liaise with local alliance members and support business development efforts
  • Ensure full legal and operational compliance in country
  • Educate the public about Celo at community events, conferences, and meetings with key stakeholders

You will: Develop and execute a strategy for Celo adoption in the Philippines

  • Conduct extensive user research, market analysis, and competitive landscaping to understand in-country operating conditions
  • Identify key opportunities and geographies for additional growth and scale
  • Oversee the execution of outreach efforts, including airdrops and advertising campaigns
  • Work closely with product team to make sure that Celo’s product meets the needs of local customers

  • Data driven and analytical, with the ability to marry numbers with qualitative insights
  • Excited about blockchain and cryptocurrency and their potential
  • An independent and self-driven go-getter who can thrive in uncharted waters
  • An excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence

You have:

  • At least 5+ years experience living and working in the Philippines
  • Fluency in English and Tagalog
  • Experience leading teams and working independently
  • 5+ years of work experience in management, strategy, operations, or similar function from a top-tier firm
  • Enthusiasm about working in a startup environment
