City Launcher - Manila, Philippines

Contract, Full time

The Celo mission is to build a monetary system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all.

Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment. Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, the Celo protocol makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility. Celo is an open protocol enabling many to participate in the system, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launching on the Celo platform is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets.

As a City Launcher, you’ll be responsible for growing merchant acceptance in new cities in the Philippines. You will build relationships with potential accepting merchants, walk them through the on-boarding process, and set them up for success on our platform.

  • Define a strategy for hyper-local expansion, defining a staged approach to rollout in different areas within Manila
  • Develop new strategies to best connect with potential merchants and improve conversion
  • Report regularly to team leadership on the challenges and successes of each area, providing actionable insights that will lead to continued growth
  • Act as a point of contact for newly on-boarded merchants, ensuring their success on the platform
  • Build acceptance from scratch, which means that there is no task too small or too big for you to tackle.

You will: Develop a playbook for acceptance of Celo at merchants at a city level in the Philippines

  • Develop an operational playbook for rollout in other cities based on your experience during the first 12 months in Manila
  • Write up strategies for identification, outreach, conversion and education of merchants in the Philippines
  • Define merchant prototypes to be targeted at different stages during and after launch

  • Build a system to keep track of merchants contacted and on-boarded
  • Develop education materials for the merchant community
